Employers
The Wyoming BLN provides 10 key services to assist your business in attracting new customers and employees with disabilities.
Here's how we can make a difference to help improve your business:
Staffing Services:
The BLN can help your business recruit, hire, train and support workers with disabilities. Our free services for employers include:
1. Job Advertising & Referrals: Send your job ads to the BLN and we help distribute the news to a wide variety of referral sources each week.
We also make follow-up calls to job seekers and representative organizations to help beat the bushes and drive interested candidates your way. We're there to help throughout the recruitment process.
2. Recruitment Open House: Want to find out who might be interested in working for your organization? The BLN can help you organize an open house to invite interested job seekers with disabilities and representative organizations to your place of business.
Your open house is an opportunity to meet candidates, showcase your business, explain career opportunities and application procedures, take resumes, schedule interviews and provide a tour of your facility. The BLN will assist you with marketing the open house, facilitating pre-registration, and co-hosting your event. It's a low cost way to effectively demonstrate you are an employer of choice with a genuine interest in community outreach.
Education Services:
3. Disability Awareness Training: The BLN provides free disability awareness training for your managers and staff. Special training seminars on a variety of diversity and employment topics are also hosted throughout the year (see Events section). Speakers include nationally-renowned business and disability experts.
4. Mentoring: Mentoring affords your employees an opportunity to have face-to-face individual experiences with job seekers with disabilities - in a fun, interactive and comfortable environment.
Become a mentor for a job seeker with disabilities - share your expertise and encourage someone to pursue a career path in your field.
Mentoring is also one of the most effective ways to train your employees on disability issues and opportunities - volunteer by becoming a mentor!
Customized HR Technical Support:
5. On-Site Consultation: BLN staff welcome the opportunity to visit with you and provide a free confidential assessment of your business needs, and provide you with practical advice on low-cost, high impact ways to improve customer access and employee recruitment.
6. Access Accommodations Technical Support: There are a wealth of resources and incentives available for businesses to improve access for new employees and customers with disabilities. The BLN can provide you with valuable information and connections in a fast, friendly and convenient manner.
Expanding Your Market Reach:
7. Disability Friendly Business Campaign: Recognizing businesses that go the extra mile to make their business more accessible is what the campaign is all about. BLN staff and community partners help you to assess your business, make low-cost recommendations for accessibility improvements, provide recommendations to the Campaign Committee for business review and certification, and then provide media promotions for business award recipients - helping to provide recognition and drive new business your way!
8. Business Leadership Awards Program: Each year the BLN hosts the Business Leadership Awards Program, recognizing local business and community leaders who best exemplify innovation and performance in disability community outreach and inclusion.
Nominations are solicited each summer for presentation at the gala awards event in October each year.
9. Abilities E-Newsletter: Want to learn more about what other businesses are doing to attract new customers and employees with disabilities?
The BLN produces a free monthly newsletter featuring great stories, upcoming events, tips and news to help your business succeed. (see Newsletter section to subscribe and also receive back issues)
Peer Networking:
10. BLN Steering Committee: Peer-to-peer networking is what the BLN is all about.
Join our volunteer advisory council (which meets once per month) to learn from colleagues and help guide BLN development and operations in our community.
Steering committee participation helps connect you with a variety of community stakeholder organizations - so that we can all work together to develop more and better opportunities that benefit our businesses and people with disabilities.
